1.Delete From the App (Recommended)
The fastest way to delete your account is from inside the Nearfo mobile app:
Open Nearfo on your phone
Make sure you are logged in with the account you want to delete.
Go to your Profile
Tap your profile photo at the bottom-right, then tap the ⚙️ Settings icon at the top.
Tap "Account"
Then tap "Delete Account" near the bottom of the list.
Confirm with OTP
We will send an OTP to your registered phone number for security. Enter it to confirm.
Tell us why (optional)
If you'd like, share your reason for leaving — it helps us improve.
Confirm deletion
Your account is queued for deletion. You have a 30-day grace period to change your mind by logging back in.
2.Delete via Email (If You Cannot Log In)
If you have lost access to your phone number or cannot open the app, you can request deletion via email:

- Your Nearfo handle (if you remember it).
- The phone number you used to sign up.
- Any other identifying information (e.g., approximate signup date, city).
- A clear statement: "I want to delete my Nearfo account and all my personal data."
We will verify your identity (we may ask you to confirm details only you would know) and process the deletion within 30 days of verification, in compliance with DPDPA 2023.
3.What Happens When You Delete
3.1 The 30-Day Grace Period
For your protection, deleted accounts enter a 30-day grace period during which:
- Your profile, posts, reels, and stories become invisible to other users.
- Your handle is reserved (no one else can take it).
- You can recover your account by simply logging back in.
- After 30 days, deletion is permanent and irreversible.
3.2 What Gets Deleted Forever

3.3 What Stays in Other Users' Devices
Some content you sent to other people may stay on their devices because we cannot reach into someone else's phone. Examples:
- Messages you sent to other users may remain in their chat history on their devices (until they delete or until vanishing-mode TTL fires).
- Screenshots of your posts taken by others before deletion.
- Shares/forwards of your content posted by others.
Your account, however, will no longer be linked or attributable on Nearfo.
4.What We Are Required to Retain
Under Indian law, we are required to retain certain data even after account deletion. This data is anonymised, encrypted, access-restricted, and kept only for the legal minimum:

5.Suspended vs Deleted

6.Download Your Data Before Deletion
Under DPDPA s.11, you have the right to know what data we hold about you. Before deleting your account, you can request a copy of your data:
- In-app: Settings → Account → "Download My Data" → request submitted.
- Email: admin@nearfo.com with subject "Data Export Request".
- We will provide your data within 30 days via a secure download link sent to your registered phone or email.
7.Special Cases
7.1 Deceased User
If you are a family member or legal heir requesting deletion of a deceased user's account, please email admin@nearfo.com with:
- Death certificate (copy).
- Proof of your relationship and authority (succession certificate, will, or similar).
- Government-issued ID of the deceased and yourself.
We will process within 30 days of receiving complete verification.
7.2 Account You Cannot Identify
If you suspect someone has created a Nearfo account using your phone number or identity without your consent, email admin@nearfo.com immediately. We will investigate and act within 7 days.
7.3 Minor's Account
Nearfo is an 18+ platform. If you are a parent or guardian and discover a minor using Nearfo, email admin@nearfo.com with proof of guardianship. We will delete the account and all data within 30 days at no cost. See our Child Safety Policy.
8.What About Boost Circle Business Owners?
If you are a verified business owner, deleting your account will also:
- End all active boost campaigns immediately.
- Refund any unspent boost budget to your original payment method within 7-14 business days.
- Close your business listing from public discovery.
- Retain transaction records for 8 years per Income Tax Act / GST Act.
Pending payouts will be released within 30 days to your verified bank account (Razorpay KYB-linked), after which the account is deleted.
9.What About Nearfo Cash Balance?
If you have an unwithdrawn cashback balance (Online Cashback, Receipt OCR, Pulse, Reel-Shop, or Local Boost Cash), you have 30 days from deletion request to withdraw it. After 30 days:
- Balances above the minimum withdrawal threshold are auto-paid to your linked bank account.
- Balances below the minimum are forfeited per the Terms of Service.

11.Your Rights If We Cannot Help
If you believe we have not handled your account-deletion request properly, you have the right to file a complaint with the Data Protection Board of India under DPDPA 2023 Section 27 (once notified by the Government). Until the Board is constituted, you may approach the appropriate Indian court of competent jurisdiction.
